Weldon Springs Conservation Area
The KATY Trail is a Rails-to-Trails project running from St. Charles, MO to Clinton, MO (225 miles). Both the Klondike County Park and Weldon Springs Conservation Area are located on this trail. All three sites were once used for industrial needs and now are enjoyed by nature enthusiasts.
Klondike County Park is a relatively new park located in St. Charles County, Missouri. This park was previously a quarry, mined for silica to make glass and other items. Nature has once again reclaimed her land, and has transformed this human-altered space into a beautiful landscape.

Heavy fog is a common morning occurance at Klondike Park. The sun was just beginning to break through the fog, while reflecting in the calm, mirror surface of the lake in the quarry.

Klondike Ikebana
This lone tree is in the middle of the lake formed in the quarry - on a very mystical, foggy morning.
What A Tangled Web We Weave
This orb-weaver made his home in the chain-link fence on the bridge that crosses the northern tip of the lake formed by the now-defunct Klondike quarry. The fog was heavy, and the web entrapped every droplet of passing moisture that it could possibly contain.
